Portage County is activating up to $160,000,000 in general obligation note proceeds for a new jail and law enforcement center plus a phased courthouse remodel with security upgrades. The July 13, 2026 finance packet includes a 2026 capital budget amendment to recognize $155,000,000 for the jail/LEC project and $5,000,000 for Phase I courthouse work.
