The City of Merced is authorized to accept $40,000 in grant funds from the California Office of Traffic Safety for their Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program. The program aims to conduct walking school buses, walking field trips, helmet usage surveys, bicycle rodeos, and safe routes to school. Funds will also be used to purchase crossing guard safety kits, bicycle helmets, and other equipment and supplies.
