THE 30-SECOND BRIEF
Funding for Rocket Phonics Foundation for phonics and reading instruction programs.
The program serves students struggling to read, particularly 3rd graders, and has shown significant improvement in reading scores. The organization works with 47 schools in Manatee County and serves 161 students across 11 sites. The funding was approved despite the Children's Services Advisory Board not initially recommending it due to concerns about objective measurement and being spread thin.
