From the meeting
At its October 21, 2026 meeting, the council considered authorizing the mayor to accept a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Texas General Land Office. The grant fully funds the city's comprehensive land use plan update and does not require a match. The attached contract runs through December 31, 2029 and includes planning for plan adoption plus follow-on zoning and ordinance updates.
The current decision was pending the council vote, and the longer-term sales angle is the implementation phase that follows the plan update.
