From the meeting
At its October 13, 2026 meeting, the Belle Fourche Public Works Committee recommended approval of Resolution 29-2026 to add a landfill fee for medical waste. The proposal set an additional $250 fee for any load containing medical waste, effective November 1, 2026, on top of the applicable tipping fee. The document said landfill personnel would have to identify and remove the medical waste and coordinate with the hauler for proper removal.
The fee was justified by added handling, disposal, and staff time tied to several new customers.
