From the meeting
At its November 9, 2026 meeting, the council considered final reading of amendments to Chapter 74, the hotel occupancy tax article, to add short-term rentals to the definition of hotel and strengthen collections, reporting, penalties, and sale-of-hotel procedures. The ordinance would let the city manager request additional documentation, add a misdemeanor penalty, and require the City to maintain books and accounts. Staff said the change would take effect on January 1, 2027.
This was part of the City's broader effort to collect hotel occupancy tax from short-term rentals and hotels.
