From the meeting

The ordinance also adopted a new Division 9 Fire Code based on the 2021 International Fire Code, with extensive local amendments coordinated with Travis County ESD No. 12 and the County Fire Marshall. The changes add new permit, inspection, access, and life-safety rules for development and fire prevention work, effective January 1, 2027.

The city said a third-party fire code reviewer from GBA reviewed the amendments. This creates follow-on needs for fire code administration, training, and compliance support.

Acting on pre-RFPs gives SLED and B2G vendors months of lead time to build relationships and shape requirements.
