From the meeting
The Old River Pump Station motor and starter improvements project replaced five 2,000-horsepower synchronous motors installed in 1997, along with motor controls, the programmable logic controller (PLC), electrical improvements, and integration with existing motor starters and switchboards. The $3,122,685 construction contract was awarded to Telstar Instruments, Inc. in June 2021.
After quality issues, Telstar was working with TECO-Westinghouse to supply replacement motors at no additional cost to CCWD. Functional testing on all five TECO-Westinghouse motors was completed in August 2026, and project closeout was anticipated in December 2026.
