THE 30-SECOND BRIEF
St. Mary’s County and the St. Mary’s County Arts Council submitted a FY 2027 Maryland Greenspace Equity grant application for the Arts Park Project at Lexington Manor Passive Park and Nicolet Park in Lexington Park. The $210,000 development scope includes sensory paths, artistic chess and cornhole game areas, concrete walks and pads, entry/exit archways, ADA access features, and tree plantings. Design work is underway, with construction slated from August 2024 through July 2025, creating near-term needs for contractors, materials, ADA features, and public art fabrication and installation support.
Matching contributions are mainly in-kind staff time from Recreation and Parks and management by the Arts Council; sponsorships from local businesses are being sought for labor and financial support. Project serves overburdened and underserved Lexington Park communities and must be maintained for at least 15 years.
