From the meeting
At its October 28, 2026 update, TAMC heard that Caltrans was advancing the South of Salinas Access Management Project on US 101 between Salinas and Chualar. The project will close left-turn and U-turn movements at 11 uncontrolled intersections, keep two emergency access points open, add all-way stop signs at four Old Stage Road intersections, and improve the southbound exit ramp at Chualar. Construction was anticipated to begin in November 2026, with permanent barriers expected in Fall 2027.
The work was fully funded by Caltrans.
