At its October 20, 2026 meeting, the board approved Bennington Area Habitat for Humanity's development plan for land clearing and placement of fill at 0 South Street. Chris Ponessi of Mance Engineering said the site would eventually hold a single duplex or possibly two duplexes with a single-family house, and that this was the first step in a 2-3 step process for more affordable housing.
