From the meeting
At its October 13, 2026 meeting, the School Board was asked to accept a $1,440,000 School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP) grant from the Virginia Department of Education. The money supports LED lighting upgrades at six schools, phase one of HVAC modernization at Hopkins Elementary, and the next phase of HVAC work at Manchester High School. The board also was asked to approve an appropriation increase for the grant fund.
This is grant-funded infrastructure work that will continue into design and implementation.
