From the meeting

At its August 12, 2026 meeting, the Board of Fire Commissioners of Hopewell Borough Fire District No. 1 authorized a public question for the November 3, 2026 election to seek voter approval to buy replacement Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and related equipment in 2027. The total cost was capped at $268,000, with $187,600 to be paid by Hopewell Township Fire District #1 under an existing shared service agreement and up to $80,400 from Hopewell Borough taxpayers.

The existing SCBA had been in use since 2013 and the compressed air bottles could not be certified past 2027. The vote was approved and election notices were ordered posted.
