Astoria to replenish Sand media in filter with $2.75M contract

City staff recommends soliciting bids for the 2025 Slow Sand Filter Resanding Project to replenish the sand media in the City's four slow sand filters in order to maintain performance and water quality standards. The project, estimated to cost between $1.65 million and $2.75 million, is the top priority for the Public Works Department and is funded through the Capital Reserve Fund with appropriations in the proposed FY 2025-26 Budget. The construction phase of the project will take approximately 24 months, with an anticipated start of construction in November 2025.
