From the meeting
The packet included a budget appropriation for $64,848 in Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The money was earmarked for the New Britain Bee Responsible education and prevention program, crime prevention and deterrence methods, and Police Athletic League youth supplies. The grant period runs from October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2028, so this is a multi-year funding stream with ongoing spend.
The city already named the program areas, which makes the opportunity concrete.
