From the meeting
The Encryption Work Group reported that MPSCS met with the City of Grand Rapids in late July 2026 to discuss migrating to AES encryption for new and some existing non-shared proprietary talkgroups. Grand Rapids Police were working on hardware updates for existing devices, and the city is following the same migration path as Kent County agencies. This is follow-on implementation work around an already selected direction.
