From the meeting

On August 19, 2026 the board approved using up to $50,000 from the Aviation Fund to develop a district drone program. Chief Cranch said the program would support fire detection, search and rescue, fuels reduction, and community safety. The same minutes say two DJI Matrice 4TD drones had already been purchased and outside-instructor training was scheduled for October 19-22.

This is an active implementation and follow-on support opportunity around training, FAA authorization, and related accessories.

Acting on pre-RFPs gives SLED and B2G vendors months of lead time to build relationships and shape requirements.
