THE 30-SECOND BRIEF
During FY27 budget talks, WATA noted that 2016-era heavy-duty buses are being evaluated as part of a zero-emissions study to decide the future mix of compressed natural gas, diesel, and other vehicle types. The study will guide replacement scheduling and fleet composition. Bus OEMs, charging/fueling providers, and consulting firms can monitor this work and offer planning, technology evaluation, and implementation roadmaps for the eventual zero-emission transition.
Study findings will influence replacement of buses from around 2016 and selection of propulsion technologies.
