From the meeting
Council considered Resolution R-05-26 to provide a minimum $5,000 local match for a $100,000 Municipal Association of South Carolina Big Idea Grant. The grant would fund the Travelers Rest Illuminated Public Art Gateways project, and the resolution authorized submission by the September 25, 2026 deadline. Awards were expected in late October, and the city said it would follow its procurement policy when buying services or products with grant funds.
That creates a near-term opportunity around public art, fabrication, installation, and related services if the grant is awarded.
