From the meeting
At the October 12, 2026 work session, Planning Director Reid Turner presented Ordinance No. 2026-680 to add more specific design standards and clarify vague language in the Old Town Overlay District. The council discussed height limits, mixed-use development near the railroad tracks, and traffic calming ideas for Main Street, including rapid flashing beacons, raised crossings, and decorative speed tables.
Mayor Crist also previewed a rezoning proposal expected next month for residential properties along Main Street, so the design and mobility work remains in the planning stage.

A pre-RFP is an early indicator that a government agency is planning a purchase — a project discussed in a board meeting, a budget line item, a new hire, or a grant award — captured before a formal RFP or bid is published. Acting on pre-RFPs gives SLED and B2G vendors months of lead time to build relationships and shape requirements.
