From the meeting

At its October 20, 2026 work session, the Board reviewed NCDOT's IMD Feasibility Studies Program for sidewalks and paved paths. The Town was told the grant would fund a feasibility study only, not design or construction, for a corridor along Hwy 179 to the traffic circle. Total study costs were estimated at $60,000 to $80,000 with a 20% local match due on notice to proceed in January 2027.

Staff said it could bring a resolution of support back for the November agenda.
