From the meeting
At its July 13, 2026 meeting the Joint Council discussed citizen concerns about data centers and whether an ordinance or zoning restriction was the better route. Town Manager Jeff Fleetwood said he had spoken with Town Attorney Robert A. Benson and Wicomico County planning director Tracey Taylor, and Benson suggested a moratorium while the town studies what other jurisdictions are doing.
The decision is still open and could lead to zoning work or a moratorium process.

Questions about this project
What is a pre-RFP?
A pre-RFP is an early indicator that a government agency is planning a purchase — a project discussed in a board meeting, a budget line item, a new hire, or a grant award — captured before a formal RFP or bid is published. Acting on pre-RFPs gives SLED and B2G vendors months of lead time to build relationships and shape requirements.
