From the meeting
At its August 18, 2026 meeting the board approved and adopted updated technical specifications for structural firefighter turnout gear. The resolution ties future competitive bidding, RFPs, and state contract purchases to the new standard based on NFPA 1971 and NFPA 1851. The Fire Chief, Purchasing Agent, and staff were directed to fold the specs into upcoming procurement packages, so the buying decision is now set and the next step is sourcing gear to match the new requirements.
