Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences was awarded a $540,000 Individual Research Grant CBIR26IRG013 from the New Jersey Commission on Brain Injury Research to support Mauricio Lillo’s work targeting connexin 43 hemichannels in traumatic brain injury. The project will test genetic and pharmacological blockade of hemichannel–pannexin coupling to preserve BBB integrity and cognitive function.
