SUMMARY
The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), Special Education Services, is seeking proposals from eligible applicants to contract as independent due process hearing officers for special education due process hearings under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Eligible applicants must be licensed to practice law in the state of Alabama and be in good standing, with specific requirements regarding background, conflict of interest, and legal writing samples. Compensation is established at $125.00 an hour with itemized invoices required, subject to professional fee reimbursement caps of $2,875.00 for cases not going to hearing and $10,000.00 for cases going to hearing.
