SUMMARY
The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), Special Education Services, is seeking proposals from eligible applicants to contract as independent mediators for special education dispute resolution under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and gifted services. Qualified mediators will conduct mediation sessions, assist parties in identifying issues and reaching voluntary agreements, and execute legally binding written agreements. The contract term is for an initial period of up to two years, with contract renewals equaling no longer than three additional years. Proposals are due by February 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. CST, and must be submitted electronically via email to [email protected]. Vendors must be registered state suppliers with the Alabama Department of Finance, Division of Procurement, comply with E-Verify and the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, and possess a master's degree and completed mediation training.
