Colorado advances BNSF joint passenger rail agreement

The Colorado Transportation Commission signaled its intent to fund a joint passenger rail project using freight rail lines owned and operated by BNSF Railroad, with an estimated one-time cost of about $329 million and roughly $9 million for initial design. A term sheet and forthcoming access agreement will support service from Denver Union Station to Fort Collins, with construction planned for 2027–2029 and operations beginning in 2029.
