The Town of Sallis has filed notice with the Mississippi Public Service Commission (Docket 2026-UN-30) of its intent to increase water service rates, citing sharply higher operating costs and the need to address multiple capital improvement issues in its water system. A February 2025 rate study by the Water Resources Research Institute at Mississippi State University underpins the proposed rate changes, which are intended to fund repainting of multiple elevated tanks, ground collector tanks, and pressure tanks over the next five years, replacement of roughly 130 miles of aging 2"–6" waterlines nearing end-of-life, and continued well and booster station upgrades following a recent 150000 spend on two well pumps. This points to a multi‑year capital program for water storage, distribution, and pumping assets that has not yet been fully scoped, designed, or procured.As the town moves to secure revenue through rate adjustments, it will need engineering, construction, inspection, and possibly grant-support services to plan and execute tank recoating, line replacements, and a proposed new booster station. Vendors can engage early with public works and town leadership to discuss phased replacement plans, cost estimating, and packaging of design-build or bid projects aligned with the new rate-funded capital budget.
