Township Weighs Expanded Sheriff Police Protection

Oshtemo Township is considering an amendment to its Police Protection Agreement with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office to add two deputies and an evening sergeant while removing the Lieutenant position and converting the Community Policing Officer to road duty. The expanded police services are projected to cost about $400,000 annually through the 2020–2023 term without increasing the Special Assessment District rate.
