McGulpin Point Lighthouse has applied to the U.S. Coast Guard for a 10-year loan of the Gray’s Reef 3½ Order Fresnel lens from May 2026 to May 2036 to create a permanent educational exhibit on Straits of Mackinac maritime history. The loan would formalize a long-term artifact partnership between Emmet County and the Coast Guard.
