The Dawson City Council approved the purchase of a tote of biomentum solution for $7,500 and a drone spraying application by Field & Fairway Autonomy, LLC to treat city and, pending approval, county ash trees for emerald ash borer disease. The project was not budgeted for 2026, so the city will use a mix of capital improvement and chemical funds, and staff must coordinate with the county for permission to spray along 6th Street and on county trees. This decision establishes Field & Fairway Autonomy as the application provider and creates an initial EAB management program that may need future rounds of treatment, surveying, and possible tree removal.Vendors in forestry consulting, tree inventory software, removal services, or additional treatment products can position themselves for follow-on work as the city refines its long-term EAB strategy and budgets future years’ activities.

City will seek county cost-sharing for treatment along county corridors; Duane Hastad will help guide city staff on tree survey work, which may generate additional scoped needs.
