On April 20, 2026 the Town held a special exception public hearing for a new business selling storage buildings at 14171 Spotswood Trail, with the Elkton Volunteer Fire Department leasing its largely vacant lot to the operator. The Planning Commission recommended approval and Council unanimously accepted the recommendation, allowing a start-up run by Justus McDaniel to place approximately 20–25 storage buildings on site to generate revenue for the Fire Department, whose donations have declined post‑pandemic. The entitlement decision is made, but the new operation will soon need site improvements, signage, access control, and business support services to set up the sales lot and manage inventory and customer traffic.Vendors in modular/storage building manufacturing, lot surfacing and drainage, small‑business POS and CRM systems, and marketing can approach either the Fire Department or the operator with turnkey solutions for the launch and potential expansion. Traffic ingress and egress were specific concerns in the hearing, which opens the door for traffic management, striping, and wayfinding vendors as well.

Approximately 20–25 storage buildings will be placed on the leased lot; traffic circulation and truck access were active discussion points.
