In April 2026 the Commission authorized the Port Director to apply for a US DOT Port Infrastructure Development Program grant to dredge and/or refurbish the dock at North Pier Marina. The May 15, 2026 status report explains that a 2025 PIDP application for purchase and demolition of Denise’s shop was unsuccessful, and the Port now plans a phased project focusing on dredging at the docks, additional piers, and floating docks at the boat launch, with engineers already engaged to develop a project to dredge the marina and refurbish the wooden dock. The agenda for the May 19, 2026 meeting includes multiple items on the status of the 2025 PIDP and a new PIDP application for dredging/refurbishing the North Pier Marina dock, showing that planning is active and the June 1 MARAD deadline is driving schedule.
