At the June 8, 2026 workshop, the Council and SEH discussed the Ford Avenue project, including traffic patterns on Greeley Avenue, sidewalk needs on Greeley, Ford, and 16th Street, and options for a 14th Street bike lane. The discussion referenced poor street and sidewalk conditions, concerns with tree removal, truck traffic on Ford Avenue, and the need for underground utility improvements, with options such as on-street striping versus “share the road” signage and consideration of adding Fir Avenue, 15th Street, and 16th Street to the project limits. These conversations indicate the roadway, sidewalk, bike facility, and underground utility scopes are still being shaped before final design and bid documents are set.Engineering, transportation planning, traffic calming, complete streets, and utility design vendors can engage now around alternative cross-sections, traffic control, bike/ped treatments, and phasing, as well as public involvement strategies for additional input requested on the bike lane.

Open house feedback and workshop comments suggest the project may expand to additional streets and include multimodal and utility upgrades, making it a significant multi-year capital effort.
