The City of Independence is set to receive a $2,500 grant from the MO Department of Conservation for the removal of invasive honeysuckle at George Owens Nature Park (GONP) in FY 2025-26. The grant requires a 50% match from the City, totaling an additional $2,500, and will fund the removal of honeysuckle from a two-acre section at GONP.
