Participating LEA personnel receive written authorization to perform immigration officer functions for an initial two-year period from the date of authorization; the MOA remains in effect until either ICE or the LEA suspends or terminates it in writing. Authorization for individual officers or the entire MOA can be revoked at any time, and SPD may withdraw from the program without penalties.
