The District of Sparwood is recommended to approve a new 2026–2030 fire protection services agreement with the Regional District of East Kootenay for the Upper Elk Valley area. The contract sets an initial $88,000 annual fee with escalation, includes a 5% RDEK capital contribution toward major fire hall projects, and formalizes equipment, mapping, and service boundaries. The agreement will continue month-to-month after 2030 unless terminated by either party.
