The Auburn City Council approved a three-year Cooperative Fire Programs Fire Protection Reimbursement Agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) for fire and emergency dispatch services, in an amount not to exceed $407,858 from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. CAL FIRE will provide 24/7 dispatch coverage and bill the City quarterly based on its share of total dispatch center operating costs.

Base term runs July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029 with a not-to-exceed total of $407,858 and annual 5% cost inflators in FY 2027-28 and FY 2028-29. Agreement allows amendments by mutual consent and permits CAL FIRE to unilaterally extend the agreement for up to one year if the City fails to give one-year advance notice regarding extension; budget contingency clauses allow either party to terminate or amend if funding is not appropriated.
