Superintendent Quig reported on enrollment and attendance figures, noting a decrease in enrollment but an increase in attendance, which has positive financial implications. He also discussed a letter from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requiring turnaround plans for three campuses: Sil Junior High, Lots Beach, and Robert Driscoll Student Academy. Quig emphasized that the turnaround plan was already in motion and assured the board that the district was committed to improving campus performance to avoid potential consequences such as campus closure or appointment of a board of managers. The board also received academic and athletic updates, including a presentation on the upcoming staff development day on September 22nd, focusing on tier one instruction and curriculum development. The board was informed that the roof project was complete, the fencing project at Robert Driscoll is complete and the new plumbing was complete behind the band hall. Athletic Director Ron Luber announced that the Robstown football team was 3-0 for the first time in over 13 years. The board then moved into closed session to discuss personnel matters, as allowed under the Texas Government Code. Before adjourning to closed session, the board agreed that minutes of meeting will be posted within seven days of the current meeting date, as per the new laws required under the text meetings act. A motion was made and seconded to table discussion of Superintendent goals until the next meeting.
