Westminster has secured two major grants totaling $3 million for the Wakefield Valley Park Trail Project: a $1 million Land and Water Conservation Fund award and a $2 million Recreational Trails Program award administered by Maryland SHA. The project will rehabilitate approximately 4.69 miles of existing trails and build new trail connections, with work including full‑depth pavement reclamation and asphalt overlays, full‑depth reconstruction on steep slopes, ADA accommodations, landscaping and tree planting, plus work on 14 trail bridges ranging from complete replacements and deck rehabilitation to structural steel recoating, scour protection, abandonment, and removals.
