Vineland’s Wellness Plan requires that all students receive comprehensive, skill-based health education and daily physical education, and that after-school ASES programs use the CATCH curriculum to promote lifelong healthy behaviors. The plan also ties nutrition education to the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program via an online FFVP VSD Calendar and calls for regular communication with parents through newsletters, take-home materials, and community meetings. Implementing these expectations will require curriculum materials, digital resources, and ongoing professional development for health and PE teachers, classroom teachers, and after-school staff.There is an opportunity for curriculum publishers, PE/health program providers, and training partners to offer aligned standards-based lessons, activities, and PD tailored to California requirements and the district’s CATCH and FFVP integrations. Vendors can also support the district’s need to track, report, and enhance wellness education and physical activity outcomes over time.

CATCH is identified as the curriculum for the ASES program, making it an incumbent framework for after-school wellness instruction; opportunities remain for supplemental materials, PD, and in-school curriculum.
