The Student Services report describes planning for the high school life skills program, noting that beginning next year Mr. Hoffman will take over Vocational Skills and Independent Living courses while Lisa Masters shifts to full-time middle school. As part of this transition, the district has already purchased some new curriculum, toured neighboring schools with exemplary programs, and invested time in planning implementation.The goal is to develop more specialized curriculum and opportunities for students with significant needs. Although some curriculum has been purchased, the language suggests the program is in an evolution phase with further development expected. Vendors specializing in transition, vocational skills, community-based instruction, functional academics, and independent living curricula for high school special education can engage around additional content, work-based learning tools, and data systems that support IEP goals as DC West refines and expands these courses over the next year.
