The Sheriff-Coroner’s unfunded augmentation list totals about $6.2 million for new or expanded public safety technologies, equipment, and vehicles. Specific items include a Deputy Sheriff Recruit Pilot Program (~$1.27M), additional Flock Safety license plate recognition cameras (multiple requests totaling hundreds of thousands), Axon Air drone systems and licenses, Axon in-car fleet camera systems for 81 vehicles, an airplane thermal imaging camera and engine overhaul, multiple SAR trucks and utility vehicles, replacement of 160 duty handguns and holsters, SWAT ballistic shields, evidence room lockers and audit services, and supplemental deputy assignments for County code enforcement. These were not funded in the FY 2026-27 Recommended Budget but are clearly documented as priorities.Vendors in law enforcement technology (ALPR, in-car video, UAS, analytics), specialized vehicles, firearms and tactical equipment, and evidence management systems should view this as a roadmap of Monterey County Sheriff’s near-term wish list. There is an opportunity to provide demos, refine scopes, and help the Sheriff’s Office and CAO craft phased, grant-leveraged, or Measure AA-funded implementations that can be brought back in future budget cycles or via targeted funding allocations.

Several products are named directly—Flock ALPR cameras, Axon Air UAS, Axon Fleet cameras—but no expansion contracts are approved in this document.
