The Senior Advisory Committee is working with a senior services consultant who is conducting a broad assessment of senior needs in East Palo Alto, including five focus groups (senior center attendees and non-attendees, a senior living facility, caregivers/elders, and key individual interviews) plus individual meetings with committee members. All findings will be compiled into a report to be presented to City Council in October 2026, where many decisions about senior services programming, facilities, hours, and supports are expected to be made. This is a foundational planning effort that will likely inform future procurements for programming, transportation, technology training, caregiver support, and potentially facilities or hours expansion for the senior center.Vendors in senior services, program design, evaluation, technology for older adults, and caregiver supports can position themselves now by understanding the emerging priorities and offering implementation options once the assessment report is delivered and Council begins acting on its recommendations.

Consultant introduction to the committee was delayed in May but engagement is proceeding with structured focus groups and interviews.
