The Public Arts Committee approved a ski chair refurbishment program for summer 2026, selecting 11 artists out of 14 applicants to repaint 12 lift chairs, with 4–5 chairs available in the first month and work scheduled at roughly four chairs per month. Two applicants were waitlisted, applications closed May 7, and artists will be asked to indicate their preferred month so that chairs can be prepped, relocated from trails to central painting locations, and completed in June, July, and August. While artist selection is finalized, the town still needs to manage logistics, including surface preparation, coatings, safe workspaces, and public display/installation of the finished chairs. This opens room for vendors in specialty paints and protective coatings, fabrication, mounting hardware, transport, and outdoor display infrastructure to support this and likely future annual rounds of the chair art program.
