The Maryland Environmental Service awarded a $12.11M construction contract to Carl Belt Inc. to comprehensively upgrade New Germany State Park’s water and wastewater infrastructure. The work includes complete replacement and relocation of both water and wastewater treatment plants, new storage, distribution and collection systems, a sewage pump station, an RV dump station, rehabilitation of existing lines, and demolition of old facilities and septic systems over a 750‑day term. The project had limited bidder participation due to its remote location, environmental and forestry constraints, and schedule and MBE goal challenges, and is funded from multiple capital and special fund sources. While the prime contractor is set, there are likely opportunities for specialized subcontractors (treatment plant equipment, controls/SCADA, electrical, site work) as well as future operations, maintenance, and optimization services. Vendors can also track this as a reference for upcoming park and small‑system utility replacements.
