Chief Dennis Woessner’s June 3 memo explains that the updated policy incorporates statutory changes effective October 15, 2025, particularly allowing officers under disciplinary investigation to review relevant camera footage, and is being presented to the Town Council on June 9 for approval. While this policy change does not itself procure new hardware, it formalizes mandatory usage, retention, access, FOI response, and disclosure workflows for body-worn and dashboard camera systems. Vendors providing BWC/dash camera platforms, secure digital evidence management, policy-based audit and redaction tools, FOI response support, and officer/public training have a chance to engage with the department as it operationalizes the updated requirements and evaluates whether its existing technology, storage, and procedures fully support the new policy.
