The District currently spends heavily on security, budgeting 140000 for security and security detail in the FY 2026/2027 budget and paying Hudson Protection Enterprise Inc. for patrols, as reflected in the April–May 2026 invoices. At the April 2, 2026 meeting, the security officer reported on January and February activity, a planned music festival on private property, and requested increased security hours for May and June, while Board members and landowners raised concerns about unauthorized events and suggested measures like gates and a joint security and maintenance plan with Florida Fish and Wildlife.The Board directed District Counsel to reach out to Florida Fish and Wildlife about a joint plan for certain security and maintenance items, and the approved budget maintains a high security allocation, indicating ongoing and possibly growing security needs. This presents an opportunity for security firms and technology providers to propose expanded patrols, access control solutions (gates, cameras), coordinated enforcement strategies, or integrated security management tailored to dispersed water control lands. Vendors can also target Hudson’s incumbent footprint for complementary technology or services.

Board is exploring coordination with Florida Fish and Wildlife and potential physical access controls in response to events and trespass concerns.
