The City of Dixon is moving forward with a second-story expansion of its 1990-era police station to meet space needs and maintain emergency response levels. After issuing a request for bids and receiving five responses, staff determined the initial low bidder, Rubicon Builders, to be non-responsive and recommended awarding the project to CWS Construction Group, Inc. as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Prior to this, Council had approved Amendment No. 6 with Cartwright Nor Cal (CNC) for project management during bidding and with Lionakis for bidding phase support. This indicates that the core building expansion contract has effectively been decided and is entering the construction phase, but related specialty trades, temporary facilities, and future change orders may still be needed. Vendors in construction trades, security, technology, and furnishings can position for subcontracting with CWS or for follow-on phases of the police facility modernization program.
