The City of Batavia approved exercise of the first five-year renewal option in its operating agreement with Batavia Sports Management for the management and operation of the David M. McCarthy Ice Arena. The renewal term runs from August 1, 2027 through July 31, 2032, keeping all original financial terms, including rent, capital improvement payments, and a 3 percent annual escalation, and supports the operator’s Ballpark Beer and Cider Permit application with the New York State Liquor Authority.This confirms Batavia Sports Management as the incumbent arena operator through 2032, with a defined schedule of rent and capital contributions that will support ongoing facility improvements. While the core operating contract is locked in, vendors providing ice arena equipment, concession and POS systems, security, marketing, and capital improvement design/construction can target Batavia Sports Management and the city for follow-on work tied to the arena’s capital plan and expanded beverage service.

All terms of the original 2022 operating agreement remain in effect; Batavia Sports Management is securing a Ballpark Beer and Cider Permit, which may drive facility and concession upgrades.
